Mechanical Engineering is great and has done wonders for the world. No way am I writing this article to bash the field.

My sole purpose for writing this article is to share my experience of why I decided to quit the field and take a completely different path.

A path I chose myself for once.

I come from a developing country Pakistan. I love my country to the core because it has given me an identity along with so much more but what I don’t like about my country or you can say, my fellow countrymen, is the fact that the vast majority of my nation is completely oblivious to how fast the world is changing, how rapidly technology it is evolving and how furiously the competition amongst nations is increasing to secure markets.

The conventional and outdated thinking of getting a “secure” government job till the day you “retire” is considered the only right way of going forward and any other career choice option is shot down the very minute it arises because of the lack of “scope” of the field.

The common man is looking for the government to take care of him so that he can get all the privileges for which he would otherwise have to pay. And that is somewhat justified because of the poor economic conditions but how will the economy ever change if the people aren’t…
